Md Jashim Uddin, Bangladesh's ambassador to Qatar, has praised the speech delivered by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's at the opening of the 49th ordinary session of the Shura Council on Tuesday.
In a statement Wednesday, the envoy lauded the Qatari leadership in navigating the country in the right direction and overcoming challenges on multiple fronts.
He said, "I strongly support the view that the leadership and the human factors, including the frontline health workers and law-abiding citizens and residents, are making a significant difference in Qatar dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. There is no textbook formula in dealing with the crisis, but Qatar’s health system itself, an integral part of Qatar National Vision 2030, has proven to be a formula to stem the tide of the virus.
"I express my gratitude to His Highness the Amir for ensuring the required health services for Bangladeshi expatriates during the pandemic. In my opinion, Covid-19 is not only a health issue but also a test case for projecting leadership as it involves protecting both human life as well as the economic well-being of citizens and residents."
The ambassador added, "His Highness the Amir has correctly identified the need for international collaboration to fight the challenge arising out of the pandemic, which remains relevant to face other global challenges, including climate change, combating poverty and the fight against terrorism. In a world where the narrative of de-globalisation is receiving some traction in recent times, Qatar, under the visionary leadership of His Highness the Amir, stands out as a model of remaining connected to the rest of the world.
"His Highness the Amir’s speech focuses on his comprehensive vision laying out a solid foundation for achieving the continued progress of Qatar. And, at the same time, as is expected from a visionary leader, it touches on international issues. It also conveys his sense of pragmatism not to be complacent before a complete victory over the pandemic."
