Four students and an alumna of Qatar University’s College of Pharmacy (QU-CPH) have been elected to various sub-committees of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO).
This is the first time for QU-CPH to have such a large representation at the EMRO, highlighting the tremendous efforts of the Qatar Pharmacy Undergraduate Society (QPhUS), according to a statement yesterday. Those elected are: Bassant Elkattan (CPH Alumni): Pharmacy Education Co-ordinator; Halima Saadia (Professional Year 3): Regional Projects Sub-committee in Pharmacy Education; Nebras Ibrahim (Professional Year 3): Regional Media & Publication Sub-committee; Laila Shafei (Professional Year 3): Regional Projects Subcommittee in Professional Development’ and Fatima Nazar (Professional Year 2): Regional Secretary Sub-committee.
The IPSF is the leading international advocacy organisation for pharmacy students with the aim to promote improvement in public health through the provision of information, education, and networking opportunities as well as a range of publications and professional initiatives.
The IPSF represents more than 500,000 pharmacy students and recent graduates in 92 countries worldwide and is managed by the executive committee. The IPSF EMRO is a regional extension established in 2008 to allow students from around the region to connect and bring the IPSF spirit to all pharmacy students and graduates and to advance and support the aims and objectives of the Federation at a regional level.
