Former Minister of Energy and Industry HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada is among this year’s foreign recipients of "2020 Autumn Imperial Decorations" and, in recognition of his contributions towards strengthening the relationship between Japan and Qatar; he will receive the "Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun".
Japan also highlighted Dr al-Sada’s contribution to stable supply of energy resources to that country.
In a statement yesterday, the Japanese embassy said, “HE Dr al-Sada has played a significant role for many years in strengthening the relation between Japan and Qatar. In his role as Minister of Energy and Industry, he contributed to the stable supply of energy resources to Japan by ensuring the reliable performance of the purchase contract for seven years from 2011 to 2018.
“In addition, during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, HE Dr al-Sada had made a great effort to ensure additional emergency supply of about 4mn tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Japan, responding to a request from Japan to cover a shortage of energy resources due to the suspension of nuclear power plants.
“Also, HE Dr al-Sada had contributed to the implementation of humanitarian projects provided by the State of Qatar to Japan to support reconstruction from the disaster of the Earthquake as a chairperson of the Qatari side of Japan-Qatar Joint Economic Committee.”
