The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)'s Public Relations Department (Awareness Section) and General Cleanliness Department (Beaches & Islands Section) carried out a cleaning campaign on Al Farkiah Beach in Al Khor on Saturday.
This was done in co-operation with a team from the Greener Future initiative as part of the activities of Qatar Sustainability Week.
Nasser Abdulrahman al-Sarami, director of public relations at the ministry, as well as Hamad al-Jabara and some 30 participants from Greener Future took part in the event, along with a number of MME employees.
The initiative was part of the MME's endeavour to integrate sustainable development goals into its plans and projects, as well as enhance community participation with the aim of achieving sustainable development goals, a press statement noted.
