The Public Gardens Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) is taking part in the activities of the 5th edition of the Qatar Sustainability Week, organised by Qatar Green Building Council until November 7.
The department is set to give a presentation on Monday about the Waterboxx technology, which has proven successful in rationalising the use of water in various types of agriculture, and especially used in planting trees in many areas across the world.
The technology can be used in planting wild and fruit trees, vegetables and various shrubs. It consumes 90% less water than traditional ways of irrigation and reduces the cost of planting in unfertile land by 90% as well. A number of successful experiments have been done using this technology under the supervision of the department at a number of areas across the country.
