Qatar Charity (QC) has carried out the groundbreaking for the multi-service Al Rayyan Charitable Centre project in Naryn Governorate, Kyrgyz Republic.

The multi-service centre will include 30 housing units, a school and kindergarten, a health centre, a mosque, a Qur'an memorisation centre and a sewing workshop.

The centre's estimated cost is more than QR5.2mn, and it targets more than 18,000 people from the families of orphans and residents of the surrounding area, QC has said in a statement.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister and Acting President of Kyrgyzstan, Sader Jabrov, made an opening statement in which he expressed his deep gratitude to the government and people of Qatar for their support and to Qatar Charity for its humanitarian and development efforts in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Qatar's ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Abdullah al-Sulaiti gave a speech in which he explained that the strategic project comes within the framework of strengthening relations between the two friendly countries. It aims to alleviate the suffering of orphans and low-income families to provide them with a decent life, he said.

The director of programmes at the QC office in Kyrgyzstan, Mohamed Hammam al-Samman, explained that the project aims to provide integrated community services to protect vulnerable groups, improve their living conditions and provide educational facilities for their children, as a contribution to enhancing students' opportunities to complete their education.
