Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), under the aegis of Embassy of India, recently conducted an online musical programme of sarod and tabla titled, ‘Rhythm of Ecstasy.’
Arnab Bhattacharya, sarod artist, and Nilimesh Chakraborty, tabla artist, were the guest performers from West Bengal, India. Bhattacharya has been an Indian classical musician for 23 years. Apart from being an engineer in computer science, he has completed a Sangeet Prabhakar degree from Allahabad University in 1999. He was awarded ‘Sarod Sunder’ from Orissa in 2005, ‘Sarod Nayak’ in 2007, ‘and Nabin Sarod’ in 2009. He is a regular artist performing for All India Radio and Doordarshan TV.



Chakraborty is an empanelled accompanist for Government of India organisations like Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth and Indian Council for Cultural Relations. He has also won the champion trophy in the Doverlane Music competition, Sarba-Bharatiya Sangeet Parishad and at the Murari Smriti Sangeet Samellan. He obtained second position in the West Bengal state academy competition and the TTIS fest award for three consecutive years.
Manikantan AP, ICC president, welcomed the artists and viewers with a resolution of the ICC, to continue with the objective of providing musical and cultural activities to Indian expatriates despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Rajesh Singh, head of finance, was the host of the evening. Nayana Wagh, head of education and cultural activities, was the anchor. Vinod V Nair, ICC vice president, proposed the vote of thanks with an assurance to the artists that if the situation improves, they would be invited to perform live in Qatar.
