The Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs has clarified that there is no "innovative" prayer chair, hidden inside the floor, at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdulwahhab Mosque.
Awqaf, through a tweet on Tuesday, said there was no such chair in the mosque as shown in a video that had been circulating on social media. The video is incorrect and without truth, it stressed.
Awqaf issued the clarification after the video graphically showed the chair popping up from the mosque floor and a person performing a prayer sitting on it. After use, the chair can be folded and tucked inside the floor.
The video also showed that the innovation includes a box, where people can keep their personal belongings such as wallets and mobile phones, and a backrest - both of which are hidden inside the floor and can be taken out as required.
