Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) honoured on Monday its eighth class at a virtual graduation ceremony, held under the patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, chairperson of the QLC Board of Directors.
Addressing the graduates in a video message, Sheikha Al Mayassa said: “Today you have the educational qualifications that enable you to find modern solutions to the challenges that lie ahead.”
“Qatar Leadership Centre programmes were developed to maximise the potential of our promising national talent and strengthen the leadership qualities of executive leaders working in the Qatari government, public and private sectors.”
“I congratulate all graduates of QLC and wish them all the best in their future professional endeavours,” she concluded.
The virtual celebration continues, and the QLC invites the community in Qatar and beyond to join at www.qlc.org.qa to recognise 147 Qataris who have completed their studies in the National Leadership Programmes and the Executive Master’s in Leadership – Qatar.
HE Sheikh Dr Abdulla bin Ali al-Thani, the vice-chairman of the Board of Directors, and QLC managing director, noted: “Our graduates have been strengthened by the tough challenges encountered this year, and are better prepared as a result of QLC’s rigourous programmes for the complex leadership issues they will face in years to come.
“They have demonstrated their abilities … we are confident each graduate will contribute in interesting and intelligent ways toward Qatar’s future development.”
QLC general manager Dr Ahmad A al-Kuwari said: “The Centre’s investment in Qatari leaders aims to improve the lives of all Qatari citizens and help them realise their potential, in line with the human development objectives laid out in Qatar National Vision 2030.
“Citizens – both men and women – have a particularly important role to play, and it is to this end that we look to Class of 2020.”
This year, 122 Qataris graduated from the Centre’s three National Leadership Programmes, and 25 graduated with the Executive Master’s in Leadership – Qatar.
“Using the leadership skills that I refined in the Rising Leaders Programme, my goal is to foster greater connections between Qatar and the international community by promoting the best aspects of my country,” said Class of 2020 graduate Khadeja Ahmad Albuhaliqa. “This ties in with my current responsibility of representing Qatar at the United Nations and other international conferences as an official delegate.”
Another graduate, Fahad al-Zaidan, said: “The Centre cultivated an amazing growth-focused culture by bringing to Qatar professors from the University of Cambridge, the University of Chicago, Duke University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, HEC Paris, and the University of Oxford, and experts from leading specialised entities, including Al Jazeera Media Institute, and International Advisory Group.
“The leadership skills developed by the Centre's graduates will carry a huge far-reaching impact on the nation.”
“Looking back at my time in the Government Leaders Programme, I am amazed at all the leadership skills I refined in the space of just one year: strategic planning, change management, communications, research and data-gathering, and of course, teamwork,” Hamza Aldosari said. “For this, I am grateful to the Centre's management team for facilitating such a remarkably intensive programme.
“Most uniquely, I was able to network and forge strong relationships with the other 46 participants in my programme.”
"Throughout my time at Qatar Leadership Centre, I gained and refined various skills while working with talented Qatari professionals from diverse backgrounds, each holding his or her own form of work style,” said Sheikh Fahad Faleh al-Thani. “This helped us achieve insight into teamwork and leveraging off each others' strengths, as well as approaching work from a new and different perspective.”
