The first batch of licensed Qatari real estate brokers took the legal oath on Sunday before the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee at the Ministry of Justice.
The licensing of this batch comes within the framework of the implementation procedures of the provisions of the law, and pushing the real estate brokerage business towards an organised legal environment prepared to keep pace with the economic and urban renaissance witnessed by the country and the great expansion in the real estate sector, including re-configuring and organising the real estate system to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
On this occasion, Saeed Abdullah al-Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary for Real Estate Registration and Authentication Affairs at the Ministry of Justice and Head of the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee, emphasised the importance of licensing the batch as the first batch of Qatari real estate brokers licensed under the provisions of Law No 22 of 2017 regulating real estate brokerage.
He pointed out that this step comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Justice based on the direction of HE the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for the Council of Ministers Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi, to reorganise the real estate brokerage profession in a way that serves the national economy, develop the mechanisms of work in the real estate market, and follow up the work the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee to educate Qatari office-owners and brokers in the brokerage profession, and maximise the benefit for the benefit of Qatari real estate brokers who will become partners in the real estate renaissance and benefit from its investment.
Al-Suwaidi said that the batch received the licence after completing the regulatory procedures specified in accordance with the provisions of the law, which include interviewing applicants for the profession, inspecting their offices and ensuring that they comply with the requirements of practising the profession, and participating in specialised training courses at the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, adding that more than 67 real estate brokers have benefited from it.
He explained that the real estate brokers who have been licensed today have fulfilled all the conditions required to be met by the real estate broker, whether they are natural or legal persons, as controls have been set for licensing, for a natural person, to be a Qatari national, fully qualified, good reputation, he should not have had a final judgment or decision cancelling the licence, and that he has an appropriate headquarters in the country designated for practising real estate brokerage business.
He pointed out that for the legal person, it is a condition that it be a company in accordance with the provisions of the law regulating commercial companies, its main purpose is to engage in real estate brokerage business, and that the share of the Qatari partner or partners in it is not less than 51% of its capital, the company's main headquarters in the state, and the company hasn't declared bankruptcy by a final judgment.
Al-Suwaidi expressed hope that the efforts of the Ministry of Justice, in co-operation with the ministries and agencies related to the real estate sector, represented by the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee, would contribute to the establishment of leading Qatari real estate brokerage companies not only at the local level but also at the regional and global levels.
The licensed real estate brokers group represents the first batch in new batches that are being prepared for licensing after the completion of the legal arrangements and requirements. The Real Estate Brokerage Department has started organising specialised courses for brokers applying to practice the profession.
The department called on experienced Qataris working in the real estate sector to hurry to register to complete the licensing and approval procedures to practice the profession of real estate brokerage, expressing hope that those dealing with the real estate sector to deal with licensed real estate brokers to obtain legal real estate services.
The ministry noted that the registration for real estate brokers is still open to all companies and individuals wishing to practice the profession of real estate brokerage via the Ministry of Justice website.
