Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB) has unveiled the LC 500 convertible in the state-of-the-art Lexus Showroom. The event was attended by AAB acting CEO R K Murugan, senior marketing manager Firas Mufti, Lexus national sales senior manager Ahmad Abusaad, and Lexus brand ambassador Amal Ameen.
The event started with the unveiling of two cars. In his speech, Mufti described that the new vehicle as 'a beautiful piece of art' which perfects the Lexus brand and DNA and recalled it was first introduced in 2017 at the Qatar Motor Show as a coupe in two variants, the LC 500 V8 gasoline engine and the LC 500 Hybrid.
"Both vehicles have become a premium choice for super niche clientele in Qatar. Based on the coupe’s success
we are launching the convertible version for those who prefer to lead and not to follow," he said.
Abusaad explained that the Lexus LC 500 Convertible, which comes with a five-litre, 471hp high-performance naturally aspirated V-shaped engine, accelerates from 0 to 100km in less than 4.7 seconds. The performance engine is distinguished by its assembly of lightweight materials, along with titanium intakes.
The all-new Lexus LC Convertible is available in a choice of 12 different colours, including the newly developed yellow contrast layer that reflects the vehicle's sporty performance, as well as three colours for the soft-top retractable roof. Driven by her passion towards the brand and specifically to the LC 500 convertible, Amal Ameen was the first proud owner to purchase 'this piece of art' as she described it, highlighting the Terrane Khaki colour with the Sand colour of the soft top. A key handover ceremony was held during the event.
Followed by the handover, Amal Ameen and Mufti unveiled five amazing canvas paintings provided by the Triple Trend Art Gallery to be showcased in Lexus showroom. Amal Ameen stated: “As a brand ambassador, I wanted to include my artistic touch to the brand by highlighting four different generations of the Lexus flagship sedan the, LS 400, LS 430, LS 460, LS 500. Since the LC convertible is the newest addition to the Lexus family, I wanted to highlight its beauty not only as a vehicle but also as a piece of art.”
With a focus on providing the same dynamic and luxurious driving performance for which the flagship LC 500 coupe is known, the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible stylishly blends the coupe’s unique roofline with the character of a convertible, achieving an exquisite profile with the top open or closed.
The LC 500 Convertible echoes the coupe’s “Even Sharper, More Refined” driving characteristics, with a low center of gravity, optimal weight distribution, and a focus on performance-minded handling thanks to impressive structural rigidity. Lexus engineers relied on computer-aided engineering (CAE) analysis and real-world driving evaluation to match the driving qualities of its coupe counterpart, and the extensive research and development yielded impressive results.
Engineers aimed to retain similar handling dynamics to the LC 500 coupe while also improving chassis rigidity with the addition and relocation of various structural braces. The LC Convertible’s suspension is tuned specifically to complement the subtle changes in weight between the two platforms, as a reduction of un-sprung weight in the front suspension improves the overall stroke. In the rear, engineers were able to further enhance structural rigidity by reshaping and relocating the rear suspension brace tower.
Weight was reduced in the rear of the vehicle by utilising a lightweight die-cast aluminum suspension brace, while a performance dampener is employed to enhance ride comfort. Drivers of the front engine, rear-wheel-drive LC Convertible can expect similar breath-taking performance to the coupe, thanks to the powerful drivetrain combination of the 5.0-liter V8 engine paired with the seamless Direct-Shift 10-speed automatic transmission. The naturally aspirated, direct-injection V8 is rated to produce 471hp at 7,100 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm.
