The Planning and Statistics Authority will celebrate World Statistics Day on Tuesday.
This year's celebration comes under the theme "Connecting the world with data we can trust." The authority seeks to reiterate the importance of statistical data in crafting sustainable development strategies.
President of authority Dr Saleh bin Mohamed al-Nabit said celebrating the day highlights the achievements in the field of data and the availability of indicators related to the sustainable development agenda of 2030.
He said that the authority's celebration of World Statistics Day is a reflection of the wise leadership's interest in statistics and its ability to enhance sustainable development effort.
It also reflects the important role played by the authority, given it is the official source of data and statistics related to Qatar.
This role is in turn critical to implementing the National Development Strategy 2018-2022, and ultimately realising Qatar National Vision 2030.
Al-Nabit said the authority provides the United Nations and other international organisations with the data required to prepare their reports.
Referring to Covid-19, al-Nabit said that the authority is committed to completing its projects, which include the census, while taking the health developments under consideration.
He added that the authority will continue to provide all the statistics and data reliably on time, while also maintaining its security and privacy of personal information.
