As the European flat season moves towards the winter racing season on the all-weather, Almufti provided Al Shaqab Racing with a victory in the mile-long Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap at Kempton on Wednesday. This was the fourth win of the four-year-old’s career, who has a predilection for all-weather tracks and should have a nice programme in the coming months.
Ridden by Joe Fanning, Almufti sat in mid-division and had to manoeuvre his way around horses to find a gap in the straight. Once clear, he pulled clear with 200m left to run and crossed the line with plenty in hand to win the race for three-year-old and older horses rated 90 and below by two-and-a-half lengths.
Almufti is trained by Hugo Palmer in Newmarket. The son of Al Shaqab stallion Toronado was bought as a yearling by Al Shaqab Racing.
