Sanitisation processes have started at government schools across the country so as to prepare for the first mid-term exams of academic year 2020 - 2021 from Sunday, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported Friday.
Both the common corridors and classrooms of each school are sanitised according to the relevant guidebook, as part of abiding by the prescribed preventive and precautionary measures against the potential spread of Covid-19. The mid-term exams are scheduled to conclude on November 2.
Such processes are part of implementing the decision of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's (MoEHE) Evaluation Affairs Sector that has specified certain standards to conduct the mid-first term exams during school year 2020 - 2021 for classes I to XI. All students have to sit physically for the exams at their schools, according to the exam schedules.
The Evaluation Affairs Sector pointed out that as part of implementing the Covid-19 precautionary measures and the related exceptional circumstances, the number of students allowable at any time during the exams in a classroom or exam hall shall not exceed 15. However, whenever the exams are held in the large sports hall, the maximum allowable number can go up to 60 students.
Meanwhile, safe physical distance is to be maintained among all students with dedicated rooms to be allocated at each school for those suffering from chronic diseases, in addition to separate quarantine rooms for those suspected to be infected with Covid-19. In addition, a dedicated hall is to be allocated for the students with special needs to enable them to sit for the exams safely and conveniently.
Arrayah also learnt that after the mid-first term exams, the MoEHE is set to implement the rotating attendance system with 50% of the students attending classes at school a week while the other 50% study remotely at home.
