Qatar participated in the virtual meetings of the 67th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean.
Qatar's delegation to the meetings was chaired by HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari.
The committee's two-day meetings discussed a number of important issues, most notably the developments of preparedness and response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the Eastern Mediterranean region and the developments in providing basic health services, essential medicines, vaccines and medical products during the pandemic.
The meetings also discussed the annual report of the Regional Director 2019 and progress reports on polio eradication, upgrading family medicine practice, progress toward comprehensive health coverage and the strategic framework for blood safety and availability, in addition to private sector's involvement to promote universal health coverage, and the regional approach to implementing the WHO 13th General Programme of Work (GPW 13) 2019-2023.
