Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) president Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer al-Thani highlighted the extraordinary friendship with the Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) in a recent meeting with Turkish ambassador Dr Mehmet Mustafa Göksu.
In a press statement, Sheikh Abdullah said such strong ties between the two institutions is also a manifestation of the historic relations between the two countries.
He described the bilateral ties of the two governments and their people as a “longstanding love”. He wished that these ties would be deep-rooted in the history of the two sides.
The meeting was also attended by QRCS secretary-general Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi, chief executive director engineer Ibrahim Abdullah al-Maliki, International Relations and International Humanitarian Law head Dr Fawzi Oussedik, and Office of the President director Adel al-Baker.

The results of the recent visit of QRCS’s delegation to Turkey, which aims to enhance relations with TRC, as well as arrange for the joint campaign for Sudan amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the flash floods, were discussed in the meeting.
Dr Göksu communicated to QRCS leaders the greetings of TRC director-general Dr Ibrahim Altan, underscoring the importance of the visit in adding value to the good relations between the two sides for the sake of humanity. Al-Hammadi said he looked forward to stepping up the co-operation with TRC.
Several topics of relevance, including humanitarian co-operation in supporting the education sector in Syria and many African countries, student scholarships at the University of Qatar, and the use of technology in the field of humanitarian action, were also tackled in the meeting.
