The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has identified a set of precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students during the upcoming examination period.
The Semester 1 midterm exams for the 2020/21 academic year will be conducted with the physical presence of students at schools from Sunday, October 18.
Students will have to be present in school in accordance with the exam schedules released for grades 1 to 11. The number of students in each exam room must not exceed 15 in classrooms and 60 in multipurpose/gymnasium halls.
Special examinations must be dedicated for students with chronic diseases, students with special needs and for isolation purposes for suspected Covid-19 cases, according to the guidelines issued by the ministry.
Proper social distancing must also be ensured between students.
Relevant decisions have also been taken regarding the assessment of exams.
Marks for grades 1, 2 and 3 will be awarded on the basis of continuous assessment tools (5 marks) and the exams (15 marks). This will be based on the specifications table and assessment tools released by the relevant departments in the Educational Affairs Sector.
For grades 4 through 11, exams of the subjects that feature oral, practice and listening assessments will be conducted in the written format only, and the full (15) marks will be awarded accordingly.
The midterm exams of the Visual Arts subject in all grades will be postponed until the end of Semester 1.
Additionally, no exams will be held for the Physical Education and Life and Research Skills subjects in all grades. Both subjects will not be considered in the students' total score.
