Qatar Charity (QC) inaugurated the Hussein Abdul Ridha Ismail Ashkanani Dialysis Centre in Sudan to contribute to ending the plight of patients with kidney diseases, especially those belonging to the vulnerable section of society and low-income people from neighbouring states.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Acting Minister of Health Dr Osama Abdulrahim, Minister of Finance Dr Heba Muhammad Ali, and Qatar's ambassador to Sudan Abdulrahman bin Ali al-Kubeisi.

Dr Muhammad al-Sabiq, director of the National Kidney Centre in Sudan, indicated that the dialysis centres in the country are under considerable pressure and unable to provide services to a large number of people in waiting, due to the shortage of such centres and the lack of adequate equipment. He noted that there are nearly 7,000 patients with kidney failure.
Dr. Mohamed Ziyad, director of Bashair Hospital in the densely populated Maio, an area south of Khartoum, said that the area has a small kidney centre, which cannot provide treatment to the large number of people visiting the facility. He pointed out that QC’s intervention contributed to overcoming these difficulties by the opening of the center built inside Bashair Hospital.

Dr. Heba Muhammad Ali, Minister of Finance, said, "Qatar Charity, which established the centre, is the forerunner in doing good, and we have a history of collaboration, and I hope that this cooperation will continue and be expanded to cover all development services."
Ambassador al-Kubeisi affirmed that Qatar extends support to all, noting the overwhelming response that the “Peace for Sudan” campaign received.
The director of QC’s Sudan office, Hussein Karmash, explained that Qatar Charity has already built hundreds of health centres and conducted health interventions in all states of Sudan.
He indicated that there are 11 new health centres, which are being implemented by QC in the various states of Sudan during this period, including eight health centres in the states of Darfur.
