A train crashed into a bus in Thailand's Chachoengsao province on Sunday morning, killing 20 bus passengers, while 15 injured people were taken to the local hospital.

The 60 bus passengers from Samut Prakan province were heading to Chachoengsao, 80 km east of the capital Bangkok, when the accident occurred and the train collided with it.

The Thai news agency quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the bus driver stopped at the railway crossing in order for a train to pass, but he did not notice another train coming from the other direction.

Residents said that the station was completely destroyed, while rescue teams rushed to the site.

The police opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
