Katara Hospitality, the leading global hotel owner, developer, and operator based in Qatar, received the Safety Excellence Award in the hospitality sector for 2020 from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) during the official launch of the 2nd edition of ‘Qatar Achievements on Vocational Safety’.
The event, held under the auspices of MME, was attended by assistant undersecretary for Services Affairs Ahmed al-Sada. It included an awards ceremony to recognise companies in Qatar that have adhered to the health and safety principles over the year.
The book, ‘Qatar Achievements on Vocational Safety’, highlights the country’s progress and development, and shows Qatar’s drive to cater to labourers and guaranteeing the fundamental rights of workers.
Excellence awards were delivered to local companies that implemented the best occupational safety standards.
In addition, safety awards were presented to companies in various categories - small and medium enterprises, real estate, oil and gas, retail, and health sector organisations.
The companies and corporations were awarded according to different categories in safety. The winners are Qetaifan Projects - Excellence Safety Award in the real-estate sector; Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy - Excellence Safety Award for Best Programme for workers welfare; Primary Healthcare Corporation - Excellence Safety Award in the health sector; Nakilat - Excellence Safety Award in Oil& Gas sector; Shail Holding - Excellence Safety Award in industry sector; Al-Jaber Group - Excellence Safety Award in contracting sector; Alfardan Group - Excellence Safety Award for family company. The Qatar Olympic Committee was honoured for its significant role in the safety field.
Katara Hospitality has put in place a comprehensive, integrated approach to vocational safety, building on its established infrastructure for addressing crucial issues related to the environment, community and workplaces, according to a statement.
