Qatar Charity (QC) has distributed food parcels to nearly 11,000 people who have been home-quarantined due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Palestine.
The distribution, which took place in co-operation with the Ministry of Social Development, comes as part of Qatar Charity’s continued efforts in delivering food and medical aid to limit the outbreak of the pandemic in many countries worldwide, according to a press statement.
Some 1,675 underprivileged and home-quarantined Palestinian families benefited from the food baskets distributed in several governorates of the Gaza Strip in Palestine. The baskets will be sufficient for a family for the two-week home quarantine period.
The beneficiaries were delighted at receiving the food baskets, which, they said, would contribute to easing the economic burden on them and help them meet the basic needs of their children.
Engineer Mohamed Abu Haloub, director of Qatar Charity’s Gaza office, said that QC was one of the first organisations that extended support to the poor in light of the Covid-19 spread. He also noted that Qatar Charity is still working hard to implement more relief projects to help the families in need.
In April, QC provided medicines, medical consumables and prevention supplies to quarantine centres and hospitals in various governorates in Palestine.
