An endangered hawksbill turtle was given lifesaving veterinary care and returned to the sea at Al Ghariya beach.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment's (MME) Wildlife and Environmental Protection Department in co-operation the Natural Reserves Department Al Shamal Marine Unit, and the Public Gardens Department's Al Khor Park joined hands for the mission.
The rescue efforts started when the Environmental Operations Department was notified by some beachgoers about a turtle that looked extremely sick. Eventually, all the necessary veterinary aid was given to it at Al Khor Park. When the turtle started to regain health, it was returned to Al Ghariya beach by the inspectors of Al Shamal Marine Unit.
Any reports received regarding turtles are referred to the Wildlife and Environmental Protection Department to take the necessary procedures in co-ordination with Al Khor Park. The case is assessed for first aid and in case of any severe injury it is referred to the hospital.
