Dignitaries from various walks of life have condoled the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah and paid rich tributes to the legendary Gulf leader.
Italian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Marina Sereni, who was in Doha yesterday on an official visit, told Gulf Times that the Mena and Gulf region has been subject to intense changes and developments, which have been ruled, governed and shaped by wise leaders such as Sheikh al-Sabah. 
“I would like to extend to the people of Kuwait deepest sympathy for this great loss impacting the entire region and adding to the recent loss of Sultan Qaboos of Oman,” she added.
Cuban ambassador Eumelio Caballero Rodriguez described the late Amir of Kuwait as a great leader, a man of justice and peace, who until the last moment of his life, was striving very hard for a peaceful solution to the Gulf crisis through dialogue and mutual respect. 
“Under His Highness’ leadership, Kuwait extended an important help and solidarity to many countries in need. On such a sad occasion, I would like to convey my sincere condolences to the whole staff of the embassy of Kuwait in Qatar, in particular to my colleague the ambassador and through him to the Government and the friendly people of Kuwait, in particular to His Highness’ beloved family. May his soul rest in peace,” the Cuban envoy said.
Kazakhstan ambassador Arman Issagaliyev recalled that Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah enjoyed great authority in the Middle East region, as well as beyond, and did a lot to ensure regional security.
“His Majesty has done a great job for the best of his country and strengthening friendly relations between our countries. Let me express my condolences on the death of a great man, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah. His passing is a terrible loss for the Kuwaiti people and the whole world. May Allah bless him in the eternal world,” the envoy said.
Belgian ambassador Bart De Groof described the late Kuwait Amir as a wise leader and a respected and experienced diplomat. “Everyone appreciates Kuwait’s role in trying to mediate for the resolution of the Gulf rift,” the envoy added.
