His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Qatar University (QU), presided over the first meeting of the Board of Trustees for the academic year (2020/2021), which was held via video conference this morning.

At the outset of the meeting, the board reviewed what has been implemented of its decisions and recommendations taken during the third and fourth meetings of the 2019/202 academic years.

The board then discussed the topics listed on its agenda and took the appropriate decisions thereon, including the approval of a proposal on establishing a Master's degree program in nutrition.

The board was also briefed on the efforts of the university in facing the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The board was briefed on the university's ranking among its international peers for 2021, maintaining fifth place among Arab universities in the QS World University Rankings while becoming also one of the top 250 universities worldwide in the same ranking. It was also ranked third among Arab universities while also becoming one of the top 350 universities worldwide for the first time ever in the Times The World University Rankings.
