The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) yesterday reported 250 new confirmed cases of coronavirus during the last 24 hours, of which 244 are community cases and six are travellers returning from abroad. They all have been placed under quarantine.
The MoPH also recorded 257 recoveries from the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number recoveries Qatar to 121,263.
The ministry said measures to tackle Covid-19 have succeeded in flattening the curve and limiting the spread of the virus adding the number of new cases and hospital admissions is declining each week.
“Qatar’s proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases has enabled us to identify a high number of positive cases in the community,” the ministry said in a statement.
It said Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world.
This is a result of very high quality of care provided through the public healthcare sector, Qatar’s young, proactive testing to identify the cases early, expanding hospital capacity, especially intensive care, to ensure all patients receive the medical care they need and protecting the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
