The Fisheries Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has released 46,000 baby black-finned sea bream into the Qatar’s waters.
The fish weigh 5-10g each, and a total of around 172,000 of these baby fish have been released into the sea so far, according to the MME.
This is the fifth batch to be released, and similar operations will continue until 200,000 of these baby fish are released in total.
This will be done in order to boost the country’s fish stock and as part of the Aquatic Research Centre’s efforts to produce fish and release them into the sea.
The release of the 46,000 baby fish took place at three protected locations at Umm Al Houl, Al Beshayriyah, and Banana Island, which are considered suitable for the growth of this type of fish and give them the suitable environment to live, the MME added.
