Leading food and delivery app talabat, in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), observed World Cleanup Day recently.
Employees and riders joined hands to beautify Al Wakra Beach, collecting litter for proper disposal.
During the event, talabat and the MME joined over 180 countries around the globe, dedicated to clean both the streets and the beach.
The partnership brought together a team of 55 employees and riders, who took part in beautifying the well-known destination, talabat has said in a statement.
“talabat continues to pledge its support for Qatar’s environment in many ways, including the use of recycled boxes for groceries, where they partnered with Qatari start-up Elite Paper Recycling, as well as promoting ‘no cutlery’ options on food orders, and guiding restaurant partners to use recyclable packaging. As it continues to support a cleaner future in Qatar, talabat encourages its ecosystem and the public to always keep in mind the role they can play for our environment,” the statement noted.
Francisco de Sousa, managing director of talabat Qatar, said: “talabat is honoured to join forces with our local Ministry of Municipality and Environment as we all have a responsibility to save our environment.
“At talabat, we encourage our ecosystem to stay environmentally cautious throughout the chain; our in-app features to reduce waste and sustainable green packaging. We also encourage our customers to properly dispose of their delivery packages, preferably through recycling.”
