Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is on Twitter now, his daughter Maryam Nawaz has said.
“Happy & privileged to announce that in order to stay connected to the people of Pakistan, MNS has decided to join Twitter,” she wrote.
His Twitter handle is @NawazSharifMNS.
As of Saturday night, Sharif’s twitter account had more than 21,000 followers.
His maiden tweet in Urdu read: “Vote ko izzat do (give respect to ballot)”, the PML-N’s slogan in the 2018 general elections.
Sharif is expected to address via video link from London the All Parties Conference (APC) organised by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) over the weekend.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari contacted Sharif on Saturday and invited him to “virtually attend” the APC.
