Al Rayyan Municipality carried out 1,557 inspection tours during August, with 38 violation reports issued in relation to the human food control law. Of these violation reports, 28 were resolved through reconciliation and 16 referred to the competent security authorities, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment said. In the same period, 48 related complaints were received and dealt with and four food outlets were shut down for related violations. In addition, some foodstuffs were destroyed for being unfit for human consumption, including 92 fully slaughtered carcasses of livestock and around 260kg of meat. Besides, veterinarians supervised the slaughter of 5,929 heads of livestock and destroyed 23,047kg of fruits and vegetables at the Al Sayliyah market, while 15 food samples were sent to the central laboratory for tests.
