Qatar and the US signed an agreement for the Qatar-US 2021 Year of Culture during the third edition of the Strategic Dialogue between the two countries in Washington, DC, on Monday.

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the Qatar-US 2021 Year of Culture, along with an MoU with the United States Agency for International Development and Qatar's support to Fulbright scholarships, reflected the range and depth of ties between the two countries.

On his part, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo praised the growing Qatar-US relationship after signing the MoU announcing the 2021 Year of Culture, the Qatar embassy in US tweeted. "The MoU emphasises that our partnership has grown beyond just defence and economics into one of true friendship and community between our people and our two countries," he said.

Referring to the agreement, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, tweeted: "Looking forward to announcing our programs in the coming months."
