In the colours of Qatar Racing Limited, Twilight Heir won on just his third start in the Median Auction Stakes on Tuesday. The two-year-old colt had finished second on both his previous starts, justifying his favourite status coming into this contest. Ridden by Cieren Fallon, who has just been signed on as the second stable jockey for Qatar Racing Limited, he was running over the undulating, turning six-furlong track at Catterick in the UK.
Drawn in mid-field, Twilight Heir made a good start to take up a position just behind the pacesetter, Red Headed Tiger.
Shuffled back in the turn as Gaelic Secret went forward, he was in fifth position coming into the straight. Coming across to the stands-side rail, Twilight Heir took up the rail, with Gaelic Secret and The Thin Blue Line fighting it out in the centre of the track.
Unchallenged, Twilight Heir cruised into top gear and won going away by two lengths. He is trained by the Newmarket-based trainer Michael Bell.
Twilight Heir was bought by Qatar Racing Limited following his first run at Fairyhouse, Ireland. By sprint sire Twilight Son, he is out of the Royal Applause mare Xtrasensory, dam of nine winners from 10 registered foals of racing age.
