The Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) carried out a comprehensive field exercise, ‘the Lekhwiya exercise 2020’, with participation from various departments and groups at a number of sites and training camps in Al Sailiya and Zekreet.
The exercise, which included field response scenarios according to the nature of the tasks of Lekhwiya departments and groups, comes as part of a series to test the readiness of the emergency force, the capabilities of its officers, non-commissioned officers and other employees, as well as the efficiency and capabilities of machinery and equipment.
The list of objectives that the exercise sought to achieve were: developing a joint planning model to achieve balance and harmony between Lekhwiya’s management and force groups, to integrate command and control to ensure the completion of planning and co-ordination, by organising the resources of the participating entities, personnel, equipment, communication networks, facilities and procedures and identifying appropriate mechanisms for co-ordination, communication and information exchange between the main parties.
The other objectives were: access to the appropriate way to benefit from the capabilities and identify the needs for strengthening the capabilities, especially the technical capabilities, and work to raise the level of competence of the first and middle leaders through the evaluation of the processes and procedures used and the mechanism of dealing with them.
Objectives also included developing indicators of success and public and individual participation in security operations, setting standards for the success of work through the application of fixed work procedures, with the establishment of the concept of risk register in general and in particular while dealing with threats and security events, in addition to developing plans and solutions and using technologies and systems to reduce various risks. Over the course of more than 12 continuous hours, a number of field scenarios and hypotheses were implemented at a number of training sites, preceded by a number of stages of preparation for the exercise, which included developing various scenarios, selecting work teams and periodic meetings with the parties participating in the exercise.
