* Health minister briefs cabinet on efforts to curb Covid

The Cabinet was Wednesday briefed by HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari on the latest developments regarding the efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 and affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures taken to combat the pandemic, the official Qatar News Agency reported.

The Council then reviewed the topics on the agenda as follows:

First - Approval of a draft law on endowment.

The draft law is prepared to replace Law No. 8 of 1996 on endowment, and comes in the framework of updating legislation to keep pace with developments in this regard.

The draft law includes provisions related to the establishment of the endowment, its distributions and conditions, the civil endowment, and the supervision of the endowment, its maintenance, architecture and investment.

Second - Approval of a draft agreement on providing jobs for junior technicians between the government of the State of Qatar and the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef).

The draft agreement comes within the framework of the State's keenness to develop and advance Qatari cadres, considering that the human element is the first engine of development and its ultimate goal. The conclusion of this agreement is an opportunity for Qatari youth with academic qualifications to work for international organisations and gain practical experience in the field of international co-operation.

Third - The Council reviewed a draft law on the regulation of hybrid electric vehicles, and the appropriate decision was taken in this regard.
