The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) yesterday launched officially the new package of supply electronic services, as part of its efforts towards digital transformation, developing the level of government services provided, and expanding them in a way that contributes to achieving excellence in the performance and speed of completion of transactions, and simplifying them in a way that eliminates the need for personal attendance.
The new electronic services package, which was launched yesterday and added to the supply services programme, includes nine new services divided into three categories, namely issuance services, amendment and update services, and distributors services.
At a press conference yesterday, assistant director of the Department of Supply and Strategic Inventory at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mubarak Khalifa al-Mohannadi, affirmed the importance of this new step in the process of completing the digital transformation of the ministry’s services, which comes within the framework of the wise leadership’s directives to develop the electronic infrastructure for all government agencies, and to make optimal use of digital technology.
He explained that the new electronic services are the result of co-operation and joint co-ordination with various government agencies and bodies in order to facilitate the transactions of citizens and all the clients of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The ministry has taken the initiative in this regard to design a unified electronic platform for supplying services that achieves integration between the various stakeholders in a way that contributes to relieving pressure on the various branches of the Supply Department, which has now six branches across the country in Al Shamal, Al Khor, Al Shahaniya, the Industrial Area, Umm Salal and the main headquarters of the ministry in Lusail city, he added.
Al-Mohannadi referred to the progress that has been made in the field of issuing Tamween (supply) cards, the number of which has now reached more than 60,000 cards, while the number of beneficiaries of the supply programme has reached more than 391,000 citizens.
Food supplies and fodder are distributed through 137 distributors in the various regions of the country, he added.
Assistant Director of the Department of Supply and Strategic Inventory affirmed that the electronic services of the supply programme translate the ministry’s efforts to reduce the burdens on citizens, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to transform the State of Qatar into an advanced country capable of achieving sustainable development, and ensuring the continuation of decent living for its people, generation after generation.
Faisal al-Haythami from the Public Relations Department gave a presentation on the nature of the new supply e-services, which in the first category include the service of obtaining a new Tamween card, and the service of requesting the issuance of a replacement card for a lost or damaged one, in the event of loss or damage to the Tamween card, the service of fodder supply service for the citizen, which allows the possibility of buying fodder through the Tamween website and paying the value of purchases to receive them from stores.
The second category services, which is the amendment and update services, include the service of modifying the type of the Tamween card, the services of adding or removing individuals from the Tamween card, the service of updating the card data, and the service of updating the Animal Resources Ownership Certificate, through which it is possible to update the fodder card data to obtain the monthly quota of fodder, after updating the data of the Animal Resources Ownership Certificate issued by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and uploading a copy of it on Tamween website.
Distributors’ services include a service of disbursing food supplies and fodder to distributors, as it allows them to purchase food supplies and fodder through the electronic page to supply and pay the value of purchases and receive them directly from stores without the need to review with Department of Supply and Strategic Inventory.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry had launched the supply services electronically, through its website, to complement the services it had developed for the beneficiaries of the Tamween card, which included 5 services represented in the service of viewing the list of approved distributors, and the service of changing the password for the Tamween card, and the services related to the Tamween card information such as the data, the exchange record and the monthly allowance, thus taking the total number of supply services available electronically to about 14 services.
