The General Directorate of Drug Enforcement at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has seized 40kg of banned narcotic substances and arrested three Asians, MoI on Tuesday informed through its social media platforms.
The haul included 29 kg hashish and 10.2 kg methamphetamine.

The Directorate received information about some persons involved in drug trafficking and a search and investigation team was formed immediately. The investigation verified the information and accordingly a plan was developed to arrest the accused.

After obtaining the permission of the Public Prosecution, the team arrested the accused and seized the drugs. The accused were referred to the competent authorities for further legal procedures.

Last month, the General Authority of Customs (GAC) officials seized 2,152kg of 'tambaku' (a kind of chewing tobacco) from a sugar shipment at the Hamad Port. In July, four packs of crystal methamphetamine) weighing 734 gm were seized at Cargo customs at Hamad International Airport.
