The Orphan Care Centre (Dreama) has received the Occupational Health and Safety Management System ISO 45001: 2018, it was announced on Monday.

The implementation was in co-operation with the Qatar Financial and Business Centre, which provided the relevant consultation.

The programme included training all employees in Dreama on prevention, safety, health and readiness procedures for evacuation in case of emergency. The training also included strict application of safety and health standards to preserve lives and property. The management and workers participated in all training activities and documenting operations and implementation with full co-ordination with the Planning and Development Office at Dreama.

The centre had undergone internal and external scrutiny to get an approved certificate that reinforces the commitment of the top management to the highest standards of occupational health and safety and to achieve continuous improvement in management processes and other operations related to occupational health and safety in Dreama.

Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad, acting executive director, Dreama, said that co-operation with the Qatar Financial and Business Centre comes within the framework of commitment to international quality requirements and upgrading Dreama's services to the targeted group of orphans.

The objective is to enhance opportunities for their integration into the society, in addition to enhancing life and professional capabilities of the targeted groups according to international standards. Accreditation is considered as a certificate of recognition that Dreama's services are of a high level of quality, occupational health and safety equivalent to the highest international standards.

Al-Misnad referred to Dreama's constant keenness to apply standards on occupational health and safety in compliance with the requirements of Qatar and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, by providing the necessary resources to comply with this policy, besides that of the quality management system, and occupational health and safety.

Amna al-Tamimi, director of Dreama's Planning and Development Office, reiterated the organisation's mission to achieve the highest standards of quality and safety while implementing plans for risk prevention.

The main objectives of quality, health and occupational safety ISO 45001: 2018 include raising the standard of proper upbringing of the child in foster families, raising the level of child satisfaction in internal and external accommodation, and reducing the number of child reintegration cases. Objectives also include raising the level of child protection standards, efficiency index of the fostered child follow-up process, students ’academic achievement rate and improving the behaviour modification index.
