* 'Social media revelations' should not be used to stir up strife, says Sheikh Nawaf
* "Recent leaks are under investigation and anybody found guilty will be punished"

The Deputy Amir and Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah has stressed that maintaining the country's security and enhancing its stability is everyone's responsibility.

In a televised address, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah said that the social media revelations, are "manifestations of meddling and chaos in the nation, particularly in relation to the recent leaks that affect some employees in our security institutions."

This matter has been an "attempt by some to cause disharmony and stir up strife," he underlined.

"This matter has gained my personal interest," he said, saying the issue "in its entirety and all of its details" is under investigation.

He expressed full confidence in the efforts of the security institution and judiciary in delivering a "just punishment" for any wrongdoing.

"This requires everyone to stop the spread of such harmful material, which only the enemies of the nation will benefit from, and those who seek to achieve their own interests and goals at the expense of our national security," he said.

"We will not allow a misguided few to drag our country into a state of division and chaos in the name of false freedom," he also warned.

However, he highlighted that his "belief in the freedom of expression is firm, and our commitment to the democratic approach is firm in a way that does not accept skepticism or outbidding."

The country has been bound from "generation after generation" by an "honest model of national consensus... governed by the constitution, the rule of law, and public interest," he added.

He concluded by underlining that members of the Royal Family are a "part of the Kuwaiti people, and the same laws apply to them. Whoever makes a mistake bears responsibility for that mistake," he said. "No one is above the law."

Commenting on the Deputy Amir's speech, Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq al-Ghanim said Sheikh Nawaf has stressed "the need to tackle corruption, that nobody is above the law and that the matter has gained his own personal interest and observation."

Al-Ghanim urged his countrymen "not to use these irregular acts as a reason and

a means to spread a culture of frustration and portray Kuwait as a hub for corruption".

He also warned about the dangers of social media rumours and how they are used to launch baseless accusations.
