The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME)'s Fisheries Department has released the third batch of baby sea bream into the Qatari waters. The batch included 40,000 fish weighing around 5gm each, taking the total number of baby sea breams released so far to 91,000, the MME said.

Some 21,000 were released in the first batch and 30,000 in the second. The third batch was released at two environmentally suitable sites that provide proper conditions for the growth and protection of the baby fish.

The initiative will continue as about 200,000 young sea bream will be released into the Qatari waters in keeping with the Aquatic Research Centre's plans.

The production and release of baby sea bream is part of a programme aimed at enhancing the country's fish stock, which involves producing local and economically valuable fish.
