In the colours of Nasser bin Saeed al-Eida, who celebrated his first French winner last week, the three-year-old Purebred Arabian filly Hajadie Du Croate opened her account at just the third time of asking, winning Prix Magnesie at Vichy in France on Saturday evening.
Trained by Thomas Fourcy, she debuted in May for a promising second place before finishing third in the Group 3 PA Prix Razzia III last month. Clearly held in high esteem by her connections, her win in this conditions race was impressive.
Settled towards the rear in the 1,400m race, she was very relaxed with an athletic stride. In the long straight, Jerome Cabre took her progressively into the middle of the track, allowing her to find her balance and gallop strongly through the line under just hands and heels to win by two-and-a-half lengths. Hidalgo Du Croate came in second, with Safaa Qa in third by a neck.
Hajadie Du Croate was bred in the south of France by Jacques-Francis Boudet and Eliane Davy-Boudet. She is a daughter of AF Albahar a proven sire standing at Haras de Thouars in France. The dam, Topaze Du Croate produced another good filly, Farida Du Croate, also third in the Prix Razzia III (Group 3 PA). The second dam is the famous D’Jadie De Teoul. Unplaced in three starts, she proved to be an extraordinary broodmare, producing three Group winners including Djavius Des Landes, winner of eight races including the Coupe d’Europe (now labelled Group 1 PA). D’jadie De Teoul has also produced five Stakes performers, including the stallion Nieshan, winner of four Group 1 PA races.
