Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charity has allocated QR9.6mn to support health projects in Qatar during the first half of 2020, through the implementation of a series of initiatives, agreements, and medical aid for various groups in society.
The financial allocations reflect the foundation’s keen interest in the health sector at the domestic level, directing its contributions to support government efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and to implement a series of community initiatives to confront it.
Among these initiatives was the establishment of the quarantine building for those infected with Covid-19 in the Industrial Area with a capacity of 356 beds valued at QR2.75mn, and providing it with all amenities.
Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charity also provided a QR2mn financial support to Hamad Medical Corp towards the costs of medicine for needy patients affected by the outbreak of Covid-19. To combat the virus, the Foundation keen to continue co-operation with the Qatar Red Crescent, provided QR1.5mn in its initiative to provide healthcare in quarantine zones in the Meknes area, and it also provided logistical and administrative support for the facility, including medical staff, security, and services, in addition to support for quarantined patients, and the provision of preventive health supplies.
Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charity Foundation also supported the Qatar Cancer Society with an amount of QR500,000 as a contribution to the treatment of cancer patients, who are unable to bear the treatment costs. The Foundation further provided financial support for the association, valued at QR240,000 and paid in tranches of QR20,000 per month.
In addition, the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charity Foundation provided a QR1mn financial contribution to the Orphans Care Center (Dreama), to cover the health services expenses it provides, to be given in equal monthly payments.
