The Ministry of Culture and Sports celebrated on Wednesday the International Youth Day 2020, which falls on August 12 each year, by organising a variety of virtual activities in the ministry’s youth centres and clubs.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports marks the occasion annually in order to stress the importance of engaging the youth in addressing the global challenges, thus contributing to directing the policies towards achieving their ambitions, while indicating that the empowerment is a joint responsibility based on the active participation in addressing the challenges of the society and their significant role in achieving prosperity and development of the societies.
The theme of this year is ‘Youth Engagement for Global Action’, which highlights the efforts and ideas that can be contributed by young people to enrich various national and international institutions and sectors.
Marking the occasion, the Ministry of Culture and Sports organised a variety of activities, including a seminar for the ‘Start Your Business’ workshop hosted by the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science; a seminar of the Qatari youth and development; a seminar on the Qatari youth and their local contributions and international ambitions and others, with the participation of an elite of youth.
The Qatar Scientific Club held a discussion session on the role of Qatari youth in the face of the coronavirus pandemic which discussed the role of the club during the crisis.
