Trained by David Simcock for Qatar Racing Limited, End Zone made his seasonal bow in the Betway Novice Stakes at Lingfield yesterday. He had run twice as a two-year-old for two smart places.
Five runners lined up in this sprint over 1,400 metres on the all-weather track. Catherine Bay took the lead with End Zone sitting with cover in fourth position to the outside. Coming off the turn, Jim Crowley asked him immediately to come around the leaders and he flew past his competitors in just 200 metres showing an excellent acceleration.
It was easy win for this gelding, with an official winning distance of 2½ lengths in front of Aramis Grey. End Zone is by speedy sire Dark Angel and out of an Elusive City mare, so this 1,400-metre trip is ideal for him. He was bred by the Brown Eyed Honey Syndicate.
