Qatar, represented by the environmental monitoring and laboratory department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, participated in the technical meeting of the team tasked with water resources chapter of the environment outlook report for the Gulf Co-operation Council member states, which includes national experts in the field of water resources and focal points from the ministries and agencies of the environment in the GCC countries.
The meeting, which was held remotely, came in the context of the agreement between the GCC General Secretariat and the West Asia Office of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), under which the first report of the state of the environment outlook for the GCC countries will be issued.
The report deals with the state of the environment of the member states in the areas of air quality, water resources, biological diversity, land resources, coastal and marine environments, and discusses technical issues related to modern data and indicators in the field of water resources according to the methodology of the integrated environmental assessment of the UNEP.
