More than 30,000 people have been repatriated to India from Qatar on Vande Bharat Mission (VBM) flights so far, it is learnt.
Flight 6E 8713 took off from Hamad International Airport (HIA) for Chennai with 129 adults and two infants. Then, AI 1972 left for Jaipur with 142 passengers, the Indian embassy tweeted Tuesday. These marked the 171st and 172nd flights from Doha under VBM, "bringing the total number of repatriated passengers to 30,232 plus 522 infants," the embassy said.
The mortal remains of one person were also carried on the flight to Jaipur, according to the embassy. Besides the VBM flights, a large number of people have been repatriated to India on chartered flights hired by community organisations and companies. Meanwhile, the embassy had on Monday released lists of more Air India Express and IndiGo flights for different destinations in India under the Vande Bharat Mission.
