Consular services at the Pakistani embassy in Doha will remain temporarily closed until Thursday, and will resume on the mission's new premises from August 16.
The new premises are located in the Diplomatic Area, Onaiza.
The embassy has informed this through a notification on its Facebook page.
"The inauguration of the new embassy took place in February this year, but because of the situation arising out of the Covid-19 outbreak, the shifting of consular services had to be halted. Now, these services are being shifted to the new premises following advice from the local authorities," the embassy said in the notification.
"In this regard, it is intimated that the consular services will remain temporarily closed from August 11-13. We shall soon finalise arrangements. Please remember to visit the new embassy premises for consular services effective August 16. Any inconvenience is regretted," it added.
Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pakistan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, had formally inaugurated the new embassy premises in February.
The new embassy premises are spread across an area of over 8,100sqm, much more than the existing building’s area of 4,500sqm, and the new consular halls can accommodate 300 visitors. There are separate waiting areas for women and men, and the hall for public meetings is also more spacious than the existing one, according to a report.
