Commercial Bank has reached a new milestone in providing highly secure banking, by being awarded the Payment Card Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) certificate.
This makes Commercial Bank a leader in obtaining the PCI DSS certification in Qatar in 2020.
The PCI-DSS certification is a world-class independent certification which attests to CBQ’s commitment in providing a safe and secure banking environment for all customers.
“As Commercial Bank continues to be an innovator and leader offering new payment card products and benefits, customers can feel confident in banking with Commercial Bank knowing their data is secure,” the bank said in a statement yesterday.
Leonie Lethbridge, executive general manager and chief operating officer at Commercial Bank said, “We have always had the data security of our customers at the core of our mission, and today, we are committed more than ever to securing our customers’ information as well as maintaining a safe and secure environment for customer transactions.
“The PCI DSS certifies the Bank’s position as a visible pioneer in the card processing industry, and marks a significant milestone in the Bank’s commendable history.”
On the importance of the PCI DSS certification for the safety of Commercial Bank’s customers, chief information security officer Benjamin Beaston said, “Data breaches around the world are increasing at a rapid rate and the bank sees this as a top risk to our customers’ safety.
The security controls implemented to protect our customer data, as attested by PCI-DSS, significantly reduces this risk, thus providing our customers a safe environment for their sensitive data and information.”
