Lebanese Foreign Minister Charbel Wahba has thanked Qatar for sending medical aid and supplies following Tuesdays explosion at the Beirut Port.

The minister also praised the Arab and international support to and solidarity with his country following the explosion. Wahba said Lebanese officials received many phone calls from all over the world expressing solidarity.

In the implementation of the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatari Amiri Air Force aircraft brought urgent Qatari medical aid to Beirut on Wednesday. It included medical supplies and two fully equipped 500-bed field hospitals.

Also, a fully equipped team from the Qatari Search and Rescue Team of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) landed in Beirut on Wednesday to participate in the search and rescue operations.
