The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has provided tips on how to prevent a heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.

The advisory, which is available on social media, states the following:

* Drink at least 8-12 cups of water daily even if you do not feel thirsty.
* Avoid doing    any physical activity outdoors while the sun is strong, and exercise indoors during this time.
* Avoid being outdoors under direct sunlight.
* Wear sunglasses and cover your head.
* Use umbrellas to protect your head and body from direct sunlight, especially at the beach.
* Use sunscreen at least half an hour before exposure to sunlight.
* Reduce consumption of caffeinated drinks, including coffee and tea, and avoid energy and soft drinks.
* Wear lightweight and light-coloured cotton clothing.
* Eat a healthy, balanced diet and increase consumption of vegetables and fruits as they are rich in vitamins, minerals and water.
