The Ministry of Public Health on Friday announced 235 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, three deaths and 242 recoveries from the infection bringing the total number of deaths to 174 and recoveries to 107377 in Qatar. The deceased were patients aged 53, 58 and 64 respectively, said the Ministry, adding that the three were receiving the necessary medical care.

The Ministry also said that all the new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status.
The Ministry pointed out that Qatar has succeeded in tackling the pandemic and that is evident from the steady downward path of the graph of daily new cases of the virus in the country. The number of new hospital per week too has decreased significantly.
It is the proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases has enabled the country to identify large number of positive cases in the community, the Ministry said. The Ministry also said that Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world and that is because of the very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector,
Qatar’s young population,  proactive testing to identify cases early, and the expanded hospital capacity, especially intensive care facility.
Though the restrictions are being lifted and numbers of cases are going down day steadily,  these do not mean that the pandemic is over in Qatar, MoPH cautioned.  People still are being admitted to hospitals with moderate to severe Covid-19 symptoms.
Unless all precautionary measures are followed, the country may experience a second wave of the virus as it is already happening in some countries across the world, MoPH cautioned.
The Ministry urged all to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures like adhering to physical distancing, avoiding close contact with others, not going to crowded places and not getting into confined closed spaces along with other people, wearing face masks and washing hands regularly.
It is also vital that the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions are sontinued to be p[protected, MoPH said.
The Ministry urged that anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers - at  Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal, or Al Gharafa- to undergo the necessary checks This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
The Ministry also recommended visiting its website for regular updates and new information on Covid-19
