According to the recent MoCI notification allowing barbershops and beauty centres to resume their operations in Phase 3, which began on Tuesday, applications will be reviewed immediately and approval will be granted after ensuring that all the required conditions are met, particularly medical certificates confirming that staff members at barbershops and beauty centres are free from Covid-19.
This is in addition to the outlet’s manager signing an undertaking to implement the precautionary and preventive measures outlined by the relevant authorities. According to the decision, barbershops and beauty centres must comply with the precautionary and preventive measures outlined by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, and shall implement a number of guidelines.
In a related development, the MoPH yesterday said it is carrying out a Covid-19 testing campaign to swab workers of beauty centres, barbershops, gyms and health clubs.
The two-day campaign, which began yesterday, is being held at Al Arabi Sports Club (Gate No 4) from 8am until 10pm with a capacity of 2,000 tests per day, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
In a notification, the MoPH said a copy of the Covid-19 negative test result certificate can be collected from Building No 323, second floor, Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City until August 1. The campaign aims to make it easier for workers to carry out the necessary procedures and accelerate completion of the Covid-19 tests, and is part of the precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and and protect society from the virus, QNA added.
Gymnasiums are also allowed to reopen in this phase, but they have to limit the occupancy rate to 50% of their capacity while following a host of other measures.
